The Story of Scandia Foods

Scandia Foods has been around for over 90 years. Over time, the company has made a name for itself not only in Romania, but also in many other European countries and on other continents. The following section describes the manufacturer's history in more detail.

1922: A German man founded the first meat and canned goods factory, Theil. Even then, the diverse products boasted a unique and outstanding quality, setting them apart from the competition.

1929–1935: In the following years, the company continued its success story and steadily expanded its product portfolio. Furthermore, the company used its own transport for distribution, and every major Romanian city had its own local representative.

1941: The original factory became known as Scandia Româna.

1990–1996: During these years, many things changed within the company. Scandia Româna primarily exported to other countries, such as...

  • Germany
  • Japan
  • America
  • England
  • and several other countries

In 1996, the company resumed production for the domestic market and also became more active in Romania.

2001: In 2001, the Romanian operation was acquired by shareholders at a public auction. From that point on, Scandia was 100% privately owned.

2010: After a major rebranding process, Scandia became Scandia Food, the name it still bears today.
